2- Rationale / why is this research important : this study is important because police officers are the focus of investigation since only a few formal studies exist that addressed the situation of teaching English in Military settings in Saudi Arabia . this study is expected to encourage further studies about the subject of teaching English for specific purposes and to help other researchers determine the best research design , data collection method and selection of subjects. More particularly, the data from this investigation provide insights to educators and researchers about how police officers learn English in Military settings; what impacts their motivation to learn a foreign language; what challenges can negatively affect their learning and what strategies can be used to overcome those challenges and problems . (please paraphrase it all)

* Rationale: of the research to determine English Language Problems & needs that police officers in Saudi Arabia usually experience in their workplaces. Hopefully, improving the police officers communicative competence in English in KSA could contribute to the police officers in their workplaces.
* Who delivers the English Language Training?
at this moment, Saudi Teachers who hold masters, and PhD
degrees and they are qualified and graduated from USA, Uk, and Canada. Before 15 years, they were foreigners such as Americans, British, Egyptian and Jordanian. They were qualified too.
* what training is provided for existing police? English Book (Police Career Path) for bachelor program — and English Book ( English for Security Purposes) for graduate program.
* Is the training suitable? I think yes, because the book, curriculum, equipped classes ,objectives are good and clear. The students have a great atmosphere to learn.
* How do police need to use English in their police work in KSA? it is International Language, Police stations (Foreigners criminals), Conferences, Study abroad, Diplomatic Scholarship. Also, as you know Saudi Arabia is developing nowadays and it has a vision 2030 which means it has some goals, one of these goal is tourists and foreigners numbers will increase 50% of the population and we have new places to support Tourism need more police security officers who speak English to communicate with tourists and help them.
* Methodology : survey/ focus groups with police officers at different career stages ( pre-service, early career, mid-career, late career.
* Recommendation from previous Officers, they told me:
1- officers need to study General English for 1 year before studying Specific English to help them understanding.
2- current students argue that they do not have time and they haven’t exposure to an English language because they do not have listening application (sources) and cannot speak English with professional because they currently stay at the dorm and cannot go out.
3- the current books do not have Grammar at all.
4- at the college , they do not go to the library and read English books to improve their language at all.
5- Colonel said: it is very embarrassed to study English in Saudi Arabia because all institutes teach English with different ages so, I recommend that late career officers study abroad.
* Needs and Challenges(General English, Studying Grammar, More sources that support Listening and Reading at the dormitory , Foreigners and professional at English to communicate, visiting Library to read and using some devices in the college, No enough time to study because they training in the field for security purposes. )
