For your final project, you will write a research paper that is double-spaced, and 4-5 pages in length (or more, but no more than 8 pages in length). Use a font size that is no larger than 12. Margins should be 1 inch (standard on Word documents).
The paper is worth 150 points, and part of the “Final Project” piece of your semester grade (which is 10%). Here is the proposed rubric for the 150 points:
Sources — 10 points
Are there at least 5 sources? Are they properly formatted? MLA is fine, or another acceptable formatting style. There are online websites that can help with formatting.
Content/Research — 100 points
What is the quality of the research? Was the research focused in its attention? Is there a strong thesis statement? Is the thesis statement supported by the paper?
Writing — 25 points
Spelling/Grammar correct? Is the writing clear? Is the sentence structure strong?
Strength of Argument/Portfolio — 15 points
Did the author “add to the debate” concerning this issue? This paper should be more than just reciting information. The author should take a position, and add to the discussion around the issues presented.
