Goal
Now that you have given some thought to your future career and major, the next step is to write a summary of your future goals and an educational plan to accomplish your goals.
Having a clear path to reach your goals can help keep you motivated, save time by taking the right courses, and give you a visual step by step roadmap toward your future success.

STEP ONE
WRITE A GOAL STATEMENTThis should include your future goals and your plan to achieve them. You may include background or personal information regarding your motivation for choosing your major, career and goal as well as information that was helpful in the development of your plans. Sample Goal Statements
Sample Student 1 Since I was a kid I always dreamed to work in the CBP (Custom and Border Patrol ). It is my dream work and I feel super passionate about it. I made my ed plan in the way that will help me to accomplish my goals. I will get an AA in Administration of Justice at Grossmont college and then I will apply for CBP. When I start working there I will try to go to SDSU in the major “Urban Studies-Political Economy and Public Policy”. I will see if my job covers my school debts so it will be easier for me in the economic aspect. After I graduate from SDSU, I will try to get a promotion in the job or get a better pay.
Sample Student 2
My goal is to become an athletic trainer for a college, or professional team. I have been an athlete my entire life, and grew up in a very athletic family. I know what it is like to love a sport and being part of a team through personal experience. Having more than my fair share of medical issues, I also understand what it feels like to be told you can’t play due to an injury or medical condition. I have been through years of physical therapy as well as an upcoming surgery for an athletic injury so I will be able to personally relate to athletes. If I could help future athletes from being in physical pain, due to an injury, or emotional pain because they can’t play, I would be more than happy and feel very fulfilled in what I have done.
Sample Student 3
My plan is to finish most of my classes at Cuyamaca College, then finish my Associate’s degree at Southwestern College and then transfer to San Diego State University. This is my first year back at college, so I have to not fail classes in order to be able to transfer in 2 years. My first 3 semesters I’m going to be taking my general education classes and then by my last two semesters I should be able to finish my Associate’s degree. By than I should be able to transfer to San Diego State. The fall of 2020 I’m going to start applying to San Diego State and then finish my associates at Southwestern College. So, I could be able to start my bachelor’s at San Diego State by Fall 2021.
Sample Student 4
Although my major is undecided I am thinking about majoring in child development. I love working with children and helping students learn and grow. So far I am planning to earn an Associates Degree here at Cuyamaca and then considering moving forward to SDSU for a Bachelor’s Degree. The counselors here helped me explore classes and majors to suit me and recommend I come in every semester to help stay updated with my career path. During my appointment I found out the classes I am currently enrolled in are perfect for the major I am thinking about, which was a relief. I feel more confident after my appointment and hopefully have my for sure major soon! Sample Student 5
My plan is to graduate from Cuyamaca college and transfer to UCSD fall of 2019. So far the majority of my classes that I have taken so far are general eds except for Psychology 120 being part of my Major prep for Sociology. In the next two semesters I plan on taking more major prep classes, which are Sociology 120, 130, and 125, and also Psychology 205, 138. Because this Major does not require extensive amount of classes I will have a free semester off and will most likely use that semester to go on the Cuyamaca abroad program. I am still unsure of if Sociology is what I want to do, but if so I am on track right now to transfer with that major. ****** I like to know Arabic language and want to teach it
