Seeking help with this presentation. You can do it in English without the video however Spanish is needed. Please ensure to list visual aids or props. The grading scale is listed as to what needs to be included. You will complete an individual video presentation to showcase communicative skills learned throughout this semester using themes, vocabulary, and structures practiced in Vistas Lessons 1-14.
Theme | Las noticias
You and your classmates are content creators for a social media platform designed for study abroad students. Your followers (students in study abroad programs for Spanish) find it difficult to understand everything that is discussed on the local Noticias (news) program, so you decide to make a more easily accessible program for them to watch. Each student will produce a recorded presentation of one of the following topics as a segment on a Noticias (News) program for Study Abroad students. Make sure to showcase the demeanor and attitude of a televised news broadcaster. You may set up your camera in front of a screen/projector or you may create a Zoom call recording with a shared screen for your visual aid. You may also use Screencast-O-Matic or other similar programs to create your recorded presentation. Be creative!  
Segment 1 – La tecnología hoy en día
Think about advancements in technology over the past 30-40 years. You will present the “newest” technological advances in the industry (things we already have), and you will describe them in detail (their appearance, their features, pros and cons of using them, etc.).  Then, think of new pieces of technology that have yet to be invented/widely used. You should use at least one authentic resource (originally in Spanish) during preparation, and you should cite these resources in some way on your visual aid. Make sure to complete each of the following tasks: 
Task 1: Introduce yourself. What is your name? Melvin Norman Where are you from? (MS) What do you study? (Criminal Justice) Where are you studying abroad? (Costa Rica) Why are you studying abroad? (Educational, Adventure and Travel purposes) 
Task 2: Describe your favorite technological advancement (a device, a program, an app, or any other relevant item). Describe its appearance, features, its pros and cons, and why it is your favorite. What do you use it for? Would you recommend it to your viewers? Why or why not? iPhone 
Task 3: Describe a technological advancement (a device, a program, an app, or any other relevant item) that does not exist yet (to your knowledge). How would it be useful? What would its appearance be like? Why would you need/enjoy it? 
Task 4: Conclude your presentation by comparing the use of technology in your own culture with the use of technology in a Spanish-speaking culture (like the cibercafés in Perú, for example). What else have you learned about Spanish-speaking cultures this semester, technology-related or otherwise? What do you want to learn more about in the future? 
Segment 2 – ¿Dónde te quedas tú?
You will present about vacation destinations in Spanish-speaking countries for your fellow study abroad students to visit. Specifically, you will speak about what kind of accommodations you can find on apps like Airbnb, VRBO, etc.. You should use at least one authentic resource (originally in Spanish) during preparation, and you should cite these resources in some way on your visual aid. Make sure to complete each of the following tasks: 
Task 1: Introduce yourself. What is your name? Where are you from? What do you study? Where are you studying abroad? Why are you studying abroad?  
Task 2: Identify and describe your vacation destination. Where is it? Why do you go/want to go? What is there to do? What does it look like there? Describe the terrain.  
Task 3: Choose one home/apartment in the area and describe it. Where is it located? What amenities are there? How many bedrooms/bathrooms are there? What kind of furniture will you find there?  
Task 4: Describe the mandatory cleaning/organizing requirements for guests when they leave. Tell your viewers what to do in the home/apartment before they vacate. What household chores should they complete? What should they clean? What should they not clean? 
Segment 3 – Geografía Manía
Your Noticias program covers a very large area for all Spanish-speaking study abroad programs with lots of biomes and climates (mountains, lakes, deserts, etc.). You will present the general climate and current weather conditions in each area. Then, describe problems with climate change/pollution in the area. You should use at least one authentic resource (originally in Spanish) during preparation, and you should cite these resources in some way on your visual aid. Make sure to complete each of the following tasks: 
Task 1: Introduce yourself. What is your name? Where are you from? What do you study? Where are you studying abroad? Why are you studying abroad?  
Task 2: Choose one geographic location in the Spanish-speaking world where you have a study abroad program (you can choose anywhere, be creative!). Describe the geographical terrain and wildlife in the area. Are there mountains, beaches, valleys, volcanoes, oceans, lakes, rivers, forests, etc.? Be very descriptive. What is the weather usually like? Also, describe the weather today in the area. Is this typical weather for the region? What should students do, or what should they wear/carry? 
Task 3: Describe the current state of climate change and/or pollution in this geographical area. What is one major issue facing the area? Describe the problem and its effects on human life  and wildlife.  
Task 4: Conclude your presentation with a brief discussion about what you have learned this semester regarding Spanish-speaking cultures, climate-related or otherwise. What are some climate-change or weather-related issues in the Spanish-speaking world that you have learned about this semester? What are some differences between your culture and a (or multiple) Spanish-speaking culture(s)? What things do you want to learn more about in the future? These items do not necessarily need to be about the country/region you have chosen for the first tasks. 
Segment 4 – ¡A viajar!
Students in study abroad programs often have the opportunity to travel during weekends and breaks, and your viewers want to know about some great new destinations to visit! You will present about some new popular vacation destinations in the Spanish-speaking world and inform your viewers about them and what there is to do there. You should use at least one authentic resource (originally in Spanish) during preparation, and you should cite these resources in some way on your visual aid. Make sure to complete each of the following tasks: 
Task 1: Introduce yourself. What is your name? Melvin Norman Where are you from? What do you study? Where are you studying abroad?(Costa Rica) Why are you studying abroad? 
Task 2: Describe one must-go destination in the Spanish-speaking world for your viewers. What is it like there? What is the terrain like? What is the weather like? What is there to do in the town/city? What types of food/culture can they expect to find? Why do you like this destination?
Task 3: Choose at least one place that everyone should visit when they travel to the area. Why should they go? Why do you like/want to go there? Make sure to include walking directions to this place from one major landmark in the city/town. Should they walk, or are there other means of transportation?  
Task 4:  To conclude your presentation, discuss some of the cultural similarities and differences between the US and the destination you have chosen. What should people know about the culture there? What are some common cultural customs/practices? Are other languages spoken there? Do people greet each other differently? Explore the culture of your destination to answer and expand upon these questions. 
Note: You do not have to cover all the topics in your video or you may add different topics of your interest. Remember that your video should be captivating and informative since your followers are your audience, so the information and delivery need to be clear, organized, and level-appropriate. Let´s make hearing the news about the Spanish-speaking world a little easier and more enjoyable for your followers!   
Objectives
I can briefly (5-6 minutes) present information on familiar topics (traveling on vacation; using technology; household rooms, objects, & chores; nature & wildlife, pollution & climate change, and protecting the environment; important places in a city and how to get there) to my peers in Spanish using level-appropriate vocabulary and grammar structures without reading from a script.  
I can present information using the past, present, & future, and I can correctly use the present subjunctive in nominal, adjectival, and adverbial clauses. 
I can conduct simple research about places, accommodations, stores, foods, cultural practices, and other thing using authentic resources produced originally in Spanish to gather sufficient information for everyday conversation and short presentations.  
I can name and compare cultural products (monuments, clothing, music), practices (pastimes, school life), or perspectives (reasons for celebrations or eating habits) in my own and other cultures, and I can use culturally appropriate language, content, gestures and/or behavior. 
Video Guidelines
To effectively accomplish the communicative goals, videos should be 5-6 minutes. Videos must be pre-recorded in video format (on your phone, laptop, TikTok, Instagram, etc.) and uploaded to YouTube. Make sure your video is set as unlisted, not private, so that everyone will have access. YouTube links must be submitted here. Late video submissions will receive a -5% reduction up to one day late and an additional -5% reduction if more than one day late.
Content | Videos must be level-appropriate and use complete, logical, and organized sentences. 
Limit your vocabulary and grammatical structures to SPAN 1010-2010, Lessons 1-14 in Vistas. 
New vocabulary words must include a visual explanation. 
Use of online translators is prohibited. 
Use your own words and make sure you and your peers can understand what you are saying. 
Visual aids/Props | Videos must include visual aids and/or props to help demonstrate what you say. 
To record your video, use a cellphone, TikTok, Instagram, Zoom and/or any other tools to create a clear and visually appealing video in a well-lit space. 
Use school-appropriate visuals and props, and consider filming your video in different locations on campus. 
Filters and backgrounds are also allowed. Be creative and have fun!
NOTE: There should be no more than 30 seconds of videos, music, voice-overs, etc. You should be speaking on camera for most of the video.
