The Corps of Discovery made several side trips of exploration during the Lewis and Clark Expedition. This project will require you to:
• Select an actual side exploration that members of the Lewis and Clark expedition took during their journey.
• Select historical members of the expedition, not yourself to detail your project.

Requirements for this project can be found on the grading matrix attached to this project. Your side trip may include one of the following, or you may choose one of many other areas where side trips were made:
• Lewis scouts the Marias – June 3, 1805
• Clark scouts the Missouri – June 3, 1805
• Lewis scouts for Shoshones – August 9, 1805
• Salt Works – Dec. 1805
• Clark’s journey to view the whale – Jan. 1806
• Clark’s journey on the Yellowstone River – July 1806
• Lewis’s journey on the Marias – July 1806

• 10 – 8 pts. – Describe the location of the destination with current geographical names of the waterways, and mountains in the area. Create a map of your destination.

Describe the Native Peoples along the journey and at the destination. (10 pts.)
