Writing Assignment Topic Instructions
Pick a zoology topic relating to one organism of your choosing and write a minimum of 700
words paper about that topic. You will need a minimum of three credible sources. You can
choose anything that can be considered an animal. Make sure you’re choosing a topic about
that animal, your topic cannot just be a summary of the animal but must relate to something
about the animal. Some examples could be:
• Migration patterns
• Reproduction
• Mating (how they choose partners)
• Feeding behaviors
• Territorial behaviors
Any of these ideas are perfectly fine! If you want to write about something else that is also fine!
Submitting your topic to me before you begin writing ensures you won’t miss any points because you misunderstood the instructions. You must submit your
topic choice! If I do not approve or receive your topic choice, you will not get any points for the
writing assignment. So please do this 
Submitting your Topic Choice
Following the general guidelines above, submit your topic idea with references to Canvas by
11:59 PM this Friday. Just submit a Word document with a few sentences telling me what you choose as your topic with at least 1 reference linked. I will accept references from sources
that are not peer-reviewed journals, but they must be credible (think national geographic,
research institutions like Monterey Bay Aquarium, etc.) if you’re unsure if a source counts,
email me! I’ll be happy to let you know. Also, since you will just be submitting your topic choice,
you do not need to submit it with all three of your sources, I’ll accept just one for this
submission, but it might be smart so I can double-check them for you before you begin writing.
