Modernism ll
Written Summaries
Looking at the course outline it is broken down into 2 weeks between eras. For example there are two weeks where we will be covering  The Middle Ages/Renaissance Era. We will then explore the Baroque era for 2 weeks. This will be the same format for the remaining era’s discussed in class. Following the close of that era you will be asked to write a 1 page summary regarding that era.

Within each summary please provide the following:
* Key notable figures- that affected/developed/influenced the music during that era.
* Musical characteristics associated with that particular style- BE SPECIFIC
Please do not just recite/paraphrase the text, but provide your own reflection on the weekly reading you have been completing to assist with the writing)Just restating the text and/or naming historical information not related to the history of music or drawing appropriate correlations will result in grade deductions. Furthermore writing about concepts outside of the musical era will affect your overall grade. This is an objective summary meaning you are writing strictly facts and informing the reader a summary (in your own words) of the era covered.
Lastly the following terms cannot be used:
Fast
Slow
Loud
Soft
High
Low

APA is the required formatting for all written summaries and assignments for this class. This will be the same type of format for all the written summaries. APA formatting and appropriate grammar will be taken into factoring your grade upon submission so please take time to ensure you are submitting your best quality work.  Please DO NOT write an abstract. If you are not familiar with APA formatting please take time to visit your local writing center at your earliest convenience. You may also use this website for reference:
